My How Things Change

It's weird what can happen to a person over a year. Heck over a few months.

All my life I have been a very passionate person. At times I felt like I had all of this passion inside of me waiting to be used and I had no idea how to direct it.

At times it has gotten me into trouble, other times I got into huge arguments.

I was/am passionate about a lot of things: my country, the military, my family, my faith, my friends, etc.  I love learning, reading, writing, the arts, music, politics, etc. What I believe in, what I love is what I am passionate about.

I realize though you can't live 24/7 with this passion going on. This may sound strange to some of you, but imagine if you are the Energizer Bunny with a Solar Battery that is constantly being charged and going on and on and on...

You get the idea.

You can't live life like it is a constant battle. Like you are taking on the next challenge. Many will probably disagree with me and that's fine with me. I understand, I used to be that passionate. But eventually you have to realize that if you keep going down that route, you will burn out.

I realized it these past few months. I am full of life and love to live life, but I know people who always seem to be "on."  It seems they never take time to relax or sit back and enjoy life.  No, to them life is a constant battle and one must always live with Passion 24/7, night and day, awake or asleep. That's exhausting.

Why?

What is wrong with taking time with life? What is wrong with having free time? These people seem to need to feel every waking minute of there day learning something, doing something, etc.  Don't they want to have time to relax, to be at peace, to think about the fun stuff of life, etc...

Why must it be this constant battle where everything must always get fixed, where we must always focus on an injustice or something that is terrible and evil and wrong? Why do we constantly have to fill every moment of our lives to the point where we are exhausted?

Is it bad to look at the fun little silly things that are going on in life? Why is it considered "degrading oneself" to  love fashion or sport for example? Why must we be wary of those that are different in thought than us?

I finally got an answer after 2 months.

They don't want to face themselves.  It sounds crazy, but it's true.  When we fill up our lives with constant activity, we don't take time for ourselves and we don't take time to examine ourselves. We need that time for ourselves to not only take care of our physical health, but our mental health especially. Sometimes people use all that activity and all that passion for fixing/changing problems they see in the world as a way to distract themselves from their own problems, their own issues. Hate to break it to you, that won't help you with yourself at the end of the day.

This semester although I have had a filled schedule, I forced myself to take some time for myself because of my health. I think it helped a lot too. I learned a lot about myself too and not only did I face the baggage I had, I faced my nasty, not so good side.

I'm not perfect. : /

After facing the the rest of the baggae (there was a little left) and coming to terms that at times I can be nasty and judgemental. It's hard facing tha truth.

Through discovering this, I dscovered some friends of mine were staying active, leanring, working, and fixing everything else but themselves. Some of them seem to live with this chip on their shoulder and they can't let it go because they don't know how to.

I know it's not easy, but it is very liberating and it helps a lot. Because of this discovery I feel a lot morrelaxed and at ease. It's a shame that those that I know are still trapped in the world were they have to escape from their problems.

Having passion is wonderful, more people need to have passion in their life. But to have it 24/7, although it sounds wonderful it is also time consuming and becomes very exhausting. Being able to relax and enjoy oneself is also a wonderful thing.

A Book Review: How to be Lovely-The Audrey Hepburn Way of LIfe.

I love Audrey Hepburn; her style, her grace, and she is so classy. I was so excited when I got this for Christmas.

This is just a simple great little book. It is not a long read, it is quite enjoyable. It is basically filled with little quotes that have to do with each topics that are discussed in each chapter. You could say it is filled with Audrey's words of Wisdom on life.

No, this is not a long book. It is one of those great coffee table books or you could use it as a a daily thing to look over for fun.

I Know a Secret

I have a secret to share with all of you, would you like to know?

Title: The Secret
Author: Rhonda Byrne
Number of Pages: 198
Publisher: Atria Books/Beyond Words
Genre: Self Help/Religion/Spirituality/New Age
Rating:

My boyfriend was the one that introduced me to this book, to be honest I was very skeptical about it. I guess it was because of my Catholic background I honestly thought this was going to be a New Agey book filled with mumbo jumbo.

Boy was I wrong.

The Secret talks about how a young woman, Rhonda Byrne went on a journey to discover and sharing a great wonderful secret. It is called many things, but what it is commonly known is the Law of Attraction.

The Secret, the Law of Attraction states that we attract everything that happens to us through our thoughts.

For anyone that is of any faith, especially Christian I recommend this book. Yes, this sounds crazy I know but think about it. I will not tell you the full details of the Law of Attraction, you are going to have to go out and do that for yourselves. But I will tell you that it proved to me the whole idea of 'God thought and spoke and there was light'. Yes a little bit of a different take on it. Once you read it, you will see it perfectly.

In a way it just really proves the whole concept of hope.

Everyone should read this book, not matter what you believe.

No News is Good News??? And News on Me!

So for about a month I really haven't paid attention to the news. So I am kind of clueless about what's going on and you know what I have proved a theory, "Ignorance is Bliss". It is kind of true. Not knowing what is going on in the world for a few weeks is pretty nice. I remembered when I did watch the news constantly, literally every day, I would feel aggravated for at least 1-2 hours of the day. And you know why???? Because there are so many idiots out there that want power, are greedy and in the process decided to screw around with the world.

For this month I have just been focusing on myself. I haven't even watched Glenn Beck and I admire the man, even though I don't entirely agree with everything he believes in. I haven't watched Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, etc. at all. Only occasionally do I look on Drudge Report, but I could not tell you what I had read. The last thing I remember reading was when they compared Michelle Obama to Marie Antoinette....it had something to do with the fact that she was going onb way to many vacations and that as a result she was dragging secret services everywhere, which was costing taxpapers....there it is.

Other then that I haven't followed anything. It has been nice.

At the same time though I do still want to follow the news, I have always been one of those people that believe that a person should be informed about what's going on and that there is no such thing as too much information. It is hard though becuase I become aggravated and depressed by the fact that there are so many selfish people out there.

That's one of the parts about myself that I want to work on, that I can be informed, make decisions, and learn about the world myself (using my own knowledge and logic) and reach the truth. All the while I want to still be able to be happy and have some sense of hope and faith that this situation that we are in will become better.

I could never be apathetic about this or anything for the matter. For me being apathetic is the worst sin ever. So I can't become this kind of person otherwise I would be a hypocrite.

So that is one of the things I will be working on in the next month.

--------------------------

As of news for my life there are new things going on, I will be signing up for classes this week and I will be starting classes next week. I'm kind of excited. I know I will be taking English classes, maybe an art class or history class. To be honest I have no idea, but I will find out soon.

I hope things work out at my new school, I will be definitly trying to join some organizations and do some volunteer work. Hopefully I could maybe get a part time job there.

I have been helping my brother with his homework, which has been definitly an expereince. He has autism so it has been a challenge, but I'm glad for the bonding.

Well I got to go look at classes. Wish me luck!

Brides O' the Emerald Isle

I have finished quite a few books lately and this was one of them.

Title: Bride O' the Emerald Isle
Author:Pamela Griffin/ Vickie McDonough/ Tamela Hancock Murray/ Linda Windsor
Mass Market Paperback: 348 pages
Publisher: Barbour Publishing, Inc.
Genre: Christian Romance/ Fiction
Rating: 3 1/2 out of 5

This books has 4 stories; A Legend of Love, A Legend of Peace, A Legend of Mercy, and A Legend of Light. A Legend of Love is ther main story, you could say while the other stories, yes can be seperate, they also give some background to the main story as well.

The main story. It is about Moyra O'Cullen in a little town in Ireland called Ballymara. In this town there is the Ballymara Castle where the Pledging Stone Chapel has beenn the place of many lasting marriages. However this is threatned by a travel reporter, Jack Andrews, who has a desire to discredit this tale. This part of the story takes place in contemporary Irealnd. It was good for what it was I just wished that this story was more developed.

Then there were the three stories all of them take place farther and farther from the present time. It starts from 1895 dealing with an American cowboy and an Irish lady so to speak. the next story is about 2 orphans, Ardghal descended from a clan that has been causing trouble. While the other, Brenda is related to a Lord and the romance between her and Ardghal may cause so problems. The last story takes place in 500 AD where it deals with the spreading of new Christianity, here a believer and a pagan cross paths and because of one night of lies, are forced into marriage.

From these stories it helps bring about the legend of the pledgins stone.

Overall this story is a quick and easy fun read, but besides that I wish there was more development. To be honest each of these books could have been seperate or part of a series and it would have been better. If you want something simple and fun, without the sex like a lot of other romances have then this is the book for you.
